Oil on Canvas. 36 x 24 ins. 1983.
The steps at the top of the picture lead down into the artists dream world where he is suspended over his memories. It is not an easy sleep clutched by a hideous insect with the world pool turned on its side. The gardens and house fronts are places where the Bryan once lived. The loud and brash female singer on television seems to represent a world he is always going to see from the outside. The victor, framed by his laurels, looks on with a cruel contempt.
