In 1987 Bryan's girlfriend, Pam, jumped from a high window in a suicide attempt. She survived but her spine was permanently damaged.  

The painting is of her room at the point at which she is about to jump. The television is still on although only showing white noise, one of her records is on the floor.

Bryan was very upset about what happened.
